Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
