Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
