Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the final game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While playing net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I accept that Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amount. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player.
