Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve final poker table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While playing web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I think television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world might be guys you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found participating in web poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
