Ah, the poker steam. If a poker enthusiast claims never to have peered over the barrel of an approaching poker tilt – they are either lying or they haven’t been betting very long. This does not mean of course that every player has gone on tilt in the past, a few people have wonderful willpower and carry their losses as a hit and leave it at that. To be a strong poker player, it is especially critical to approach your successes and your defeats in the same manner – with little emotion. You participate in the match the same way you did after taking a tough loss like you would after winning a big hand. All poker masters are not charmed by tilting after an awful loss as they are very professional and you really should be to.
You have to be certain that you will not win every hand you’re in, even if you are the strongest player. Hands that commonly make players to go on tilt are hands you were the favored or at a minimum thought you were up until you were side swiped and you lost a huge portion of your bankroll. Bad defeats are bound to happen. Accept that idea right now, I will say it once again – if your siblings enjoy cards, if your parents enjoy cards, if your grandparents enjoy cards – We all have poor defeats sometime. It is an unavoidable experience of participating in Texas Hold’em, or really any type of poker.
Since we are assumingly (nearly all of us) playing poker for one reason – to acquire money, it certainly makes sense that we will gamble accordingly to maximize profits. Now let’s say you are up $100 off of a 100 dollars deposit, and you suffer a large blow in a NL game and your bankroll is down to $120. You’ve burned $80 in a hand where you should have picked up $200two hundred dollars when you decided to go all-in on the flop and had a 10 – 1 advantage. And that amateur! He bled you dry on the river? – Well hold it right there. This is a quintessential opportunity for a fresh player to start tilting. They really just burned too much $$$$ on one hand that they should have won and they are aggravated
